Creative Director: PROOF
Willhemina Wahlin is a Lecturer in Graphic Design at Charles Sturt University (CSU), and the Creative Director of PROOF: Media for Social Justice, a non-profit organisation based in New York city, that uses visual storytelling for human rights and social justice. Willie has designed over 15 exhibitions for PROOF that have travelled across the US, Europe, Asia and Australia. Four of these projects were part of her PhD research.
Storytelling has been at the heart of Willie’s work for the last 20 years: she has written for theatre and music, worked as a journalist and editor in Australia and Japan.
Masterclass: Visual Storytelling in a Nutshell
Storytelling is a really powerful way for us to share each other’s stories. In this fast-paced workshop, you will start out working in small groups, putting into practice some basic interviewing techniques. You will then break down key story points to create a dynamic, visual story that can be shared. You will be using free Adobe apps to draw, collage and compile your stories into shareable media (please see notes below).
Be sure to bring along your tablet device and install the free apps Adobe Sketch and Adobe Draw. You will need an Adobe login (it’s free to create).
