"Last year on my birthday I received a text from my mate that read “Oi would you wanna go to Luminosity and happy birthday bro” I had never been to Luminosity so I looked into it. The event looked so good I booked a spot the same day (with my birthday money). And it was a great experience that I and many others got immense value out of. On the first day I was greeted, got a goodies bag and a lanyard with my name on it, now that's vip. I had never been apart of an event like Luminosity before, it’s one thing to watch people on youtube, (yeh its cool) but there's a certain energy that is exchanged from being in a room full of hungry young people listening and interacting with each other and the speakers who are at the top of their fields, it just fired me up!

One speaker that stood out to me in particular was Dan Flynn of Thankyou, he told a story of how he was wanting to expand into Coles and Woolworths with thankyou products. They had both said no to him for five years. So he raised an army on social media and flew a massive banner attached to a helicopter around the coles and woolworths head offices campaigning for them to stock Thankyou water and it worked! This showed me the power of persistence and grit, if you want something you have
to go out and get it, you can't just sit around hoping it will come. This resonated with me in regards to business ideas I was working on. I attended every extra event at Luminosity because I wanted to make the most out of it. The first extra event was the open mic night at the top of Rydges where people got to share their love of music. The creators of Luminosity have built such a genuine culture of encouragement, everyone at the open mic night was so encouraging to each other. I overheard the Rydges staff say with shock “they are all so encouraging” it was truly a magical atmosphere.

Now I can’t describe Luminosity without bringing up the food which was good, yes very good, each day we all marched into Rydges with our lanyards proving our Lumo 2022 status where we enjoyed a generous spread for lunch. Throughout the event I got to network and meet many great people, I still keep in contact with some even today, “anyone remember John?” John and I have been encouraging each other as we hit milestones and keep pursuing our dreams. When going to a Post Malone concert you expect to meet Post Malone fans. The same goes with Luminosity you attend expecting to meet people who are driven, who dream and want more out of life. This is the standard that Luminosity has fostered.

I have recommended it to friends and will continue to recommend it because Luminosity is encouraging, inspiring and creating the next generation of leaders. I will continue to attend Luminosity and maybe one day I will have something of my own to share and encourage other people with, just like they have encouraged me.

"The 2022 Luminosity Youth Summit is an event that I will always remember. Truthfully, I did not know what to expect when I got a letter saying that I had won a free ticket but was excited to meet like-minded people and curious to see first-hand what the event entailed.
Although I attended the event by myself, I was never lonely, and I'm glad to say that I have friends that I've met from Lumo who I'm still in contact with today. Everyone was all very welcoming, and the speakers all shared amazing stories and lessons which I'm glad that I and other young people had the opportunity to receive.

The three days of Lumo were intense - I felt awe, and inspiration every day and learned so much. It was refreshing to see remarkable individuals who have achieved incredible things open about the challenges they've had to face and how they've succeeded despite them. So many of the speakers resonated with me on a deep level and while listing them in my mind, I'd realised that I noted almost all of them! One speaker who has made a tremendous impact on me, however, was Nadine Champion. As a young person who has struggled with self-doubt, her demonstration on the power of 10-seconds of courage is something that I'll carry with me forever. By her giving me the chance to go outside of my comfort zone and break a wooden board in front of everyone, she has made me - and by extension, every other young person in the audience - remember that we are capable of so much more than we think.

My devotion to help others has led me to be a final year Bachelor of Nursing student. Attending the Luminosity Youth Summit, however, has inspired me to think of the myriad of ways I can add value to and uplift others outside of my future role as a clinician. I have left the Luminosity Youth Summit with an increased passion for community service and a heightened interest in entrepreneurship. I want to thank everyone who I had the privilege of meeting during the event and say a special thank you to Andrew Morello for being an amazing M/C and whose words of affirmation has influenced me to step into leadership positions such as the 2023 Regional Youth Taskforce member for the North Coast.
I would highly recommend to those who have been given the opportunity to attend the Luminosity Youth Summit to seize this opportunity with both hands - it's a decision you'll be glad you've made.”

But... as the speaker’s have said, you feel pressured when you're younger to know what you want to do, and so I think that's what kind of led me (in the past).
